The Best Power Green Smoothie recipe

After I went plant-based, I started to incorporate green smoothies into my diet, but I wasn’t consistent with it at all in the first few years. Two years ago I changed my diet completely, I started to have a lot of raw fruits and vegetables and I started to enjoy my green smoothies as well.

I have this Power Green Smoothie every day, and my skin and my body just love it.

It’s a mixture of Kimberly Snyder’s GGS smoothie and Anthony William’s Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie. I like both of their signature smoothies so I created my own.

Why should you have a green smoothie every day?

I’m not going to shock anyone by saying that leafy greens are extremely beneficial for your body, your hair, and your skin. They are full of vitamins and minerals, which can help us feel the best. They literally give a glow to your skin. Since I’ve been drinking this smoothie every day, my skin changed completely. Fewer breakouts, fewer wrinkles, smoother and hydrated skin, shinier hair, better digestion, more energy.

Since we blend the ingredients, it’s easier to digest it, because the nutrients are already broken down. Plus raw fruits and vegetables are full of enzymes which help us digest the food easier and better.

I totally understand when you say you don’t like to eat leafy greens because of the taste, but having it in a smoothie with some fruits you won’t even notice the bitter taste. Also, I know that eating huge salads can be time-consuming and some people are having trouble to digest them, so drinking green smoothies is a good way to get your greens in.

I also add some fruit to my smoothie which is so beneficial (don’t be afraid of the sugar- here you can read about it a little bit more), but also make sure you put a lot of greens into the smoothie. Not just one leaf.

Of course, the main ingredient is leafy greens. You can add any type of greens you want, you can mix them. Leafy greens have a lot of vitamins and minerals, they are antiviral, antibacterial, they have a lot of protein, so if you are concerned about your protein intake, then have more leafy greens.

Celery is a miracle for our body. I found out about it more when I read the Medical Medium books. Anthony William swears by it, he says the best thing is to have 16 ounces of celery juice every morning on empty stomach. It cures everything.
Well, I’m not really consistent with that yet, because in the morning I wake up really early, I don’t have time to make it and clean the juicer, but I really want to start doing it.
It’s one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods. Celery has a lot of enzymes, it raises hydrochloric acid in the stomach so you can digest the food better.

Until then I add 2-3 large celery sticks to my smoothie and it’s so good. Also, I add celery to my cooked meals. Did you know celery is a good alternative to salt because of its sodium content?

Cilantro (coriander) is on the best of foods to remove heavy metals from your body alongside with wild blueberries, dulse, spirulina and barley grass juice powder. It flushes the toxins out of your body, also gets rid of viruses, bacteria, and parasites.

Wild blueberries are one of the best fruits out there to cure illnesses. It can be tricky to find them, in the UK I couldn’t find them at any grocery stores so you can add regular blueberries (even though the wild ones are much better) or you can add them in powder form. Blueberries have a lot of antioxidants, they are fighters of free radicals. They slow down the aging process. They are an excellent source of iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc, the also have omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids. Especially wild blueberries. They are true brain food and also really beneficial for your eyes.

Atlantic dulse is one of the most powerful seaweed which pulls out the heavy metals from your body, especially mercury. Atlantic dulse binds to the mercury and it doesn’t release it until it leaves the body. As it comes from the ocean, be aware that Atlantic sea dulse will not release any mercury it might possess into the body.

Hawaiian spirulina is quite popular and a lot of people take it but most of them are not even aware of the nutritional value that spirulina can offer us. It also helps remove heavy metals from our brain, our nervous system and liver as well. It’s really high in iron, B12 which you really need to take if you are vegan, magnesium, manganese, vitamin K, vitamin A. It’s really high in protein, the best protein powder. I love spirulina, I know it doesn’t taste nice but when you add it to a smoothie you can not even taste it.
Hawaiian Spirulina is the most potent and is highly recommended.

Barley grass juice powder is another great superfood that helps get rid of toxins, heavy metals, illnesses, skin issues. It prepares the mercury for complete absorption by the spirulina. This nutritive grass has the ability to draw heavy metals out of your spleen, intestinal tract, pancreas, thyroid, and reproductive system. The name shouldn’t confuse you, it’s gluten-free, it’s not a grain, it’s grass. Taking barley grass juice powder instead of the normal barley grass powder is so much more beneficial for you because barley grass powder is simply dried barley grass, and while powdered barley grass juice is the juice extracted from barley grass that is then turned into a powder.

Bananas are one of my favorite fruits. A lot of people don’t eat it because of their high sugar content but don’t get fooled by that. I talked about that before. Bananas are a powerful antiviral food. They can help solve sleep disorders, reduce anxiety and alleviate depression. They help soothe digestive issues as well. They are really high in potassium.

Apple is a miracle fruit for the body, especially for the liver. Great detoxifier, full of vitamins and minerals. They are the perfect colon cleansers, get rid of bacteria and viruses. The phytochemicals in apples make them a true brain food.

Lemons are amazing to detox your organs, high in vitamin C. I always have a warm water with some fresh lemon juice in the morning on empty stomach.

If you want you can add a green powder mix to the smoothie.

The best power green smoothie


Prep time: 5 minutes      Servings: 1-2


  • 2 handfuls of leafy greens (spinach, kale, romaine etc.)
  • 1 cup (240g) chopped cilantro (coriander)
  • 2-3 large celery stalks
  • 1/2 cup (120g) blueberries (preferably wild ones)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 apple
  • juice of a half lemon
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • 1-2 tsp barley grass juice powder
  • 1 Tbsp fresh or dried Atlantic dulse
  • 400-500 ml water


  1. Blend all the ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
